Continuing with my blog series "Why Work in PR?", we have Sarah Hall today sharing with us her PR career story and some valuable advice for students and young professionals looking into joining the industry.

I met Sarah on email a few months. Yep, we've never met in person but email and Twitter were enough to discover that we have many things in common, especially a passion for reviving the PR industry and particularly the agency world.

With years of experience in PR, running her own agency now and seeing the pains of the industry, Sarah was the one who started the #FuturePRoof book project and reached out to me to see if I would be interested in contributing a chapter on Inbound PR too. Of course I was. I was so grateful to her for the opportunity. And so I invited her to share with us her story.

Before you move onto the interview, don't forget to follow her on Twitter @Hallmeister and to follow @WeArePRoofed too.

Choosing And Making Your Career - How I Went About It

I wrote a story on LinkedIn the other day about what I loved the most about working at HubSpot.

As the comments were piling up, I started thinking about everything that has happened before and after I joined HubSpot. There's one thing I realised defines success whether in life or at work.

It's all about making choices. The right choices at the right time for the right reason.

The choice to study hard.

The choice to work hard.

The choice to take a risk.

The choice to never give up.

The choice to want more.

The choice to do more.

The choice to never stop learning.

The choice to always be curious.

The choice to never be satisfied.

The choice to commit.

The choice to grow.

These choices are influenced by the mindset you choose to follow – fixed or growth:

I'm now very dedicated to ramping up my blog series "Why Work in PR?" as it looks like they are very helpful to you, dear PR students and young professionals

Today, it's Scott Guthrie who shares with us his PR career story and some fantastic guidance with three big tips on how to succeed in the PR industry.

It looks like I tend to meet other PR professionals on Twitter. Same happened with Scott and also through the #FuturePRoof book project that we both wrote chapters for and then started reading and tweeting each other's content more often afterwards. He writes regularly about communications, creativity and change on his blog so I encourage you to subscribe there to learn. And don't forget to follow him on Twitter @sabguthrie

It's been a while since we've had an interview for my blog series "Why Work in PR?" I hadn't forgotten about it but I didn't have the right person to go next yet. Now I do.

Today, Farzana Baduel shares her PR experiences and some fantastic advice for students and young professionals.

Farzana and I 'met' on Twitter a few months ago, I was impressed by her profile, then I 'stalked' her on LinkedIn and was amazed by her achievements, building up her own very successful global PR agency. A true career that can you inspire you too and so I offered to interview her, and she gracefully accepted. I encourage you to follow her on Twitter and shoot her a friendly tweet about reading her story.

Women in Business: Progress, Promises and Practical Advice [Infographic]

This is a guest post by Kelly Huffman

What will it take for women to achieve equality in the workplace

Let's do a quick international case study comparing women's presence in the halls of corporate power. In Norway, women hold more than 35 percent of the seats on corporate boards of directors. In the U.S., that number hovers around the 19 percent mark.

Why such a big difference?

Several years ago, Norway passed legislation mandating gender diversity in the boardroom. Other Scandinavian countries followed suit, and this year Germany passed a law requiring large companies to appoint women to 30 percent of the spots on their boards.

But it's unlikely that the United States would ever pass this kind of legislation. (It remains the only country in the world besides Papua New Guinea that mandates no paid family leave.)

So, aside from pursuing education and paying their dues, what can women do to keep working their way up?
