New Year, New Blog!

Written by Iliyana Stareva | 03-Jan-2012 12:38:00

Hello and welcome to my first blog!

I've been reading and thinking a lot about what to write in my first post so in the end I decided to tell you a little bit about who I am and what the purpose of this blog is.

As you have probably already noticed my name is Iliyana Stareva. I’m 21 and I come from Bulgaria. Currently I am studying International Business at Plymouth University, England, where I will finish the third year of my Double Award Bachelor’s Degree and write my first dissertation. The first two years I studied at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Dortmund, Germany, where I will go back in 2013 to write my second dissertation and then graduate. But before that I will have to find a 20 weeks internship (in PR) as part of my course. It does sound complicated, I know, but it is definitely worth it.

I’m extremely passionate about PR and Social Media and I’m pursuing a career in consumer PR. This was my main motivation to create the blog. After all, both a blog and a Social Media presence are essential for the PR profession, aren’t they?

I’ve been planning this blog and gathering ideas for a few months now, but I managed to wildly dig into Wordpress in the past few days. I’ll not only be blogging about my main interests PR, Social Media, Advertising, Marketing, Business and Intercultural Relations, but also about university and work related experience, about what I have learnt and what I am about to learn along the way to becoming a PR pro – for example about my current endeavours with my first dissertation “The Impact of Social Media on the PR Industry”. In other words, I’ll be sharing my thoughts and ideas about best practices, creative campaigns, do’s and don’ts and all the interesting things I come across. My purpose with this blog is to improve my knowledge on the listed topics above and my writing skills as well as to meet other people working in the industry or just interested in PR and Social Media.

So, one of my New Year’s resolutions is devoting enough time to develop and improve this blog and thereby learn as much as possible. Furthermore, the blog should be of help in my forthcoming quest for internships and graduate jobs with PR consultancies. Most importantly however, my long-term objective is creating an online personal brand.

And please feel free to leave your comments, ideas and suggestions and contact me via email, Facebook, Google+, LinkedIn or Twitter. Your feedback would be extremely helpful for me to get better and better in my journey!

I hope you enjoy your stay here!
